NYCUDL January Debate Educators Conference (DebateCon XI) has ended

Lola Dupuy

MS 343
Teacher, Head Coach
Lola participated in my high school Speech and Debate program for three years, two years in Speech and one year in PF debate. She focused more on Mock Trial, however. Lola competed on the Mock Trial team all four years, was top four in the State three times, including state champion one time (2004). She received many "best attorney" and "best witness" awards through my four years of competition. She also was the President of my high school's Junior State of America league, which was an informal debate club centered on discussing current events.

As an educator, she taught English for two years in a rural village in Kyrgyzstan as a Peace Corps Volunteer, teaching students in 3rd grade through 11th grade, and taught after-school English clubs and summer English camps for students from 6th grade to 11th grade. In 2012 Lola moved to New York City and joined the Teaching Fellows. For the past five years, I've been teaching Math in a middle school in the South Bronx as the Special Needs teacher in an ICT class and coaches the MS 343 Debate Team.
